Scott has foughtfor reproductive freedom his entire time in public office because he believes decisions about pregnancy, abortion, and contraception belong to individuals — in consultation with their doctors — not politicians. When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and the federal government began actively attacking reproductive health care, Scott responded by fortifying California's defenses — protecting providers, shielding patients, and ensuring the state remained a refuge for people seeking care. In Congress, Scott will fight to protect reproductive freedom in California and across the United States.
Scott has received the highest possible lifetime scores from Planned Parenthood (100%) and Reproductive Freedom for All (A+) and has consistently been one of the staunchest supporters in the Legislature for reproductive health. Scott played a key role stopping the University of California from entering into partnerships with religious hospitals that effectively banned UC health providers from providing reproductive health care and gender-affirming care. As Senate Budget Chair, Scott protected funding for reproductive health care, HIV prevention and care, gender-affirming care, STI prevention, and other critical needs as the Trump administration moved to gut them.
Under Trump, the federal government is an active threat to reproductive freedom rather than a guarantor of it — and Scott will fight to change that. But defense isn't enough. Once we codify Roe, Scott will push to hold states accountable that continue to restrict or ban abortion access, so reproductive freedom is a reality for every American regardless of where they live.
