SUPERVISOR WIENER'S STATEMENT ON JANE KIM'S PROPOSAL TO ANNEX PART OF SAN MATEO COUNTY

In a classic example of the pot calling the kettle black, Kim is lecturing Brisbane to build housing despite Kim's long history obstructing new housing in San Francisco.

San Francisco, CA - (September 27, 2016) Supervisor Wiener issued the following statement on Supervisor Jane Kim's announcement that she is exploring annexation by San Francisco of a portion of San Mateo County, specifically, the Baylands in Brisbane:

“I absolutely support pushing Brisbane to add significant housing to its Baylands project, since Brisbane must do its part to address our housing crisis. However, Jane Kim is the last person who should be lecturing other cities on the need to build more housing, given her track record of obstructing housing in San Francisco. Jane Kim co-authored the Mission Housing Moratorium, opposed adding nearly 6,000 new units of housing at Park Merced, opposed the Affordable Housing Density Bonus, and opposed $50 million in annual funding to house homeless people. The pot should not be calling the kettle black. I look forward to working collaboratively with our regional partners to ensure that all of us - including both Brisbane and San Francisco - participate in meeting our housing needs."
