Endorsements from California State Council of Laborers, Local 510 Sign and Display, and Daly City Firefighters demonstrate growing support by working men and women of labor
San Francisco, CA – (February 11, 2016) Today, Scott Wiener’s campaign for State Senate announced endorsements from the California State Council of Laborers, Local 510 Sign and Display Workers, and the Daly City Firefighters.
"Scott Wiener has a proven track record supporting public safety and our first responders," said President Nick Gracia of Daly City Firefighters Local 1879. "He has stood with firefighters to make sure fire equipment is safe and modern and to ensure we are investing in our public safety infrastructure. Scott has our full support."
“I’m grateful for the support of these unions and their hard working members. Improving quality of life for them and their families is my top priority, whether that’s making the bus or train they take to work faster and more reliable, creating more affordable housing, or making their neighborhood safer. I look forward to continuing that work for them in the State Senate,” stated Scott Wiener.
These new endorsements join Wiener’s growing support among labor, including the State Building & Construction Trades Council of California; Building & Construction Trades Council (San Francisco); Building & Construction Trades Council (San Mateo); Firefighters Local 798; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 6; Laborers Local 261; Northern California Carpenters Regional Council; SEIU Local 87; Teamsters Joint Council 7; United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 648; UFCW Western States Council; and Union of American Physicians and Dentists.
In addition to these new endorsements, Supervisor Wiener took a huge step toward becoming the officially endorsed Democratic Party candidate in the race, by earning 80% of the vote at the California Democratic Party (CDP) pre-endorsement conference, a meeting of hundreds of Democratic, grassroots activists from Senate District 11. That pre-endorsement vote will be ratified at the CDP convention February 27th-29th.
